Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I use the shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser?

Q: Why should I use the shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser?

Because your feet contain 250,000 sweat glands producing producing about 1L of sweat each day, and your shoes are dark, warm and moist, this is a great place to harbour bacteria and fungus. These are the same bugs that cause Athlete's Foot, onychomycosis (fungal nails) and nasty infections on your feet. They also cause smelly feet which can be embarrassing and unpleasant for yourself and others.

Q: How safe is the ultraviolet light in the shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser?

The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser is safe for you use by your whole family. Ultraviolet, or UV, light is produced by the sun. When you walk outside you expose yourself to UV light naturally. Just as with the sun, prolonged exposure can damage your skin and no one should ever look directly into the sun. For these same reasons, we strongly warn against exposing the shUVee®'s UV light to your skin or looking directly into the light.

Q: How do I know if the shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser has been effective?

Follow your nose. This very sensitive organ is the best way to determine if these bugs have been eradicated. Your shoes should be smelling like new in as little as 45 minutes!

Q: How long does the shUVee® take to work?

Depending on the condition of your shoes, they should be deodorised in 45 minutes and fully clean in just 8 hours. We recommend cleaning your shoes overnight while you sleep.

Clinical tests have shown that the shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser killed 99.9% of bacteria and over 99.8% of the main fungus that causes Athlete's Foot and onychomycosis. For more information about this validated scientific data, please contact us.

Q: The shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser green light doesn't come on. What's happening?

There is a new safety feature and there should have been a YELLOW instruction sheet that accompanies your user manual. You will need to do the following:

  1. Assemble and plug in unit. A standby light should illuminate on the base.
  2. Place shoes on both wands.
  3. PRESS AND HOLD the on off button for 5 seconds.
  4. The UV Activated lights should now be illuminated indicating your unit is working.
  5. This new safety feature prevents children from playing with the product and damaging their eyes. We understand that waiting five seconds can seem like an eternity in our digital age, but we hope you understand. If you do all of this and your unit is not working, please return it to us for a free replacement.

Q: When should I use the supplied shUVee® bags?

You should use your shUVee® bags when deodorising sandals, open-toed shoes and children's shoes as these may expose the UV lamp. For added protection from UV light, you may use the shoe bags whenever you use the shUVee® Ultraviolet Shoe Deodoriser. Please refer to the instruction manual that comes with your shUVee®.
